WebGP is a way of patients using ‘self help’ guides and requesting ‘e-consults’ with our GPs. The software, which will be linked to our website, takes patients through various questions about their condition and can sign post them to appropriate advice (using self-help button) or forward the form to the Practice (if they select e-consult). A large pilot has taken place in the New Forest and the Practices there are now actively encouraging its use because of the positive feedback received from patients. This project is not for children nor for urgent problems. We are unsure of all of the benefits to both patients and the Practice and the detail is unclear at present but here at Camrose, we have agreed to give it a go. Drs Partridge, Reed and Oshiga will trial WebGP (often referred to as e-consult) from 19th September. If you are unsure whether your problem can be managed at home, the vast ‘self-help’ guides should be able to help. Alternatively, if you’d like advice from one of our GPs, you will be able to complete an ‘e-consult’ form which will be read by one of the three GPs trialing this service. The GP will then decide on the most appropriate action and you will be contacted by the Practice within 24 hours either with advice or to book an appointment. We are going live for a trial of six weeks on 19th September. Look out for the appearance of the ‘e-consult’ button on the website.
